Meet Any Second Now

Meet Cyrillynn, the creative soul behind Any Second Now, a space where she showcases her love for music, fashion and the arts.  Her event recaps and adventures around town will keep you coming back to visit her unique site.  She took a minute to share with us what she enjoys to do on her spare time and advice she would give to her younger self.

Name: Cyrillynn

What are your favorite posts you’ve ever written on Any Second Now?
I love re-reading my music/concert posts because I enjoy seeing how I felt in that moment about the show I was watching, event I was attending or band/artist I was meeting.  Those posts have become a musical diary for me.  I also like my travel posts, especially with my family and the ones I wrote when I went to Europe with my best friend.  But one of my favorite outfit posts I wrote was one called Old Navy because it became an editorial about my father and how it reminded me of old photos of when he was in the navy.

How would you describe your personal style?
I would say “chic edgy punk rocker" describes my style pretty well!

What has been your favorite experience about writing a blog?
Getting to meet new people, trying out new experiences + products and having a creative outlet.

Do you like shopping in retail stores or online?
Both!  I love the joy of walking around and seeing cute clothes, shoes and purses up close because I can feel them and know immediately what they would look like on me because I can try them on.  But I also really love the convenience of online shopping.  I know generally what my size is in most of my favorite brands, so I'm really good at not having to return many things due to size.  I just love shopping in general, which makes my 1-year of "fashion sobriety" very difficult.  I've decided to give up shopping for 1 year, which started the second week of April.  I'll track my progress on my blog!

What do you enjoy to do when you’re not blogging?
I love hanging out with my family and friends, which usually involves going to movies, concerts, record shopping and a good meal out.  I really enjoy spending time with my husband and son, as they are the lights of my life!

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
That's a great question because I'm starting to meet my favorite bands from back when I was 16 (mainly 80's alternative groups).  I'm SO glad I'm meeting them now and not then because I would have just been a spaz at 16!  I would definitely tell my 16-year-old self to chill out.  I was so concerned about what others thought about me at that age, and I would most definitely tell her to not worry about others’ opinions.  I think I finally got it a couple of years later when I went to college, but not quite at 16.  Also, I would tell my 16-year-old self, "Great job with the growing vinyl record collection! You kept them in fantastic condition, so keep collecting because it will all be worth it in your 40's!"

What do you like the most about San Diego?
I was born and raised in San Diego and I absolutely love my city!  It's a big city that feels like a small town in a lot of ways.  I love being near the ocean, near bigger cities like LA and Las Vegas and also being close to a whole other country within driving distance!  It's so beautiful, the weather is fantastic and I love all of my home sports teams!  Although I love traveling, (New York, London and Toronto are on my list of favorite cities), I definitely miss San Diego when I'm away.
