Featured Style Blogger: Pigtails and Pearls

How long have you been blogging?
I just started at the beginning of the year. But did share some Guest Look of the Day's for a friend’s blog in prior.

What were your main reasons for starting to blog?
Well I first became interested in blogging after sharing several Guest Looks of The Day on my friend’s blog. And after having 2 babies 21 months apart I found myself falling into a style rut. I used to be this fashion forward and adventurous girl, but it kind of got a bit lost after having my girls. So I decided that I needed to get a little piece of myself back and that's when I started Pigtails & Pearls. Plus as a stay at home mom, after talking to 2 little ones all day it's nice to have a little outlet that's just for me.

What Inspires you?
Obviously other bloggers, then there's magazines, TV, books, and history. Oh and who can forget Pinterest. Everytime I get on Pinterest I'm immediately inspired to try a new look and even some recipes. My daughters are also my inspiration because I want them to grow up to be bright and classy young ladies. And for them to do that I have to show them what that is.

What do you like to do on your spare time?
What spare time is really the question. HA! No really, life with 2 toddlers doesn't leave much spare time. But those few hours I do get when they go to bed is usually spent catching up with the Hubs, checking what's on my DVR, and maybe a little good old fashion girl talk with my girlfriends from college. I also enjoy taking a Barre Method class every now and then to get some exercise. I've found it to be really relaxing and just makes me feel good afterwards.

How long have you lived in San Diego? Tell us what you love about SD?
I'm actually living in the Temecula area now, but I was born in SD and lived there for the first part of my childhood. I honestly do not have a memory from my childhood that does not take place in SD. What I've always loved about SD, is that it's got a little bit of that big city feel without the craziness and the awful traffic. Places like Carlsbad, Downtown SD, Balboa Park, and Seaport Village are just some of the places I love going out to and taking the family. And lets not forget about the shopping! Ikea and Fashion Valley are just down the street from one another that is like the end of me right there. But as I'm slowly learning SD has so much to offer that I never fully appreciated as a child and I'm glad to be reacquainting myself with the city.

What advice would you give to other who would like to begin blogging?
Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself. Blogging is all about putting yourself out there so you can't take yourself too seriously. You have to be able to laugh at yourself to show people what makes you interesting and your blog unique. And don't be discouraged my how many or how few followers you have. That will come in time. Blog for yourself first.
