Featured Style Blogger: The In Between Girls

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about two and a half years now. I am still coming to terms with referring to myself as a blogger.

What were your main reasons for starting a blog?
Originally, I started a Wordpress blog for class. It was about fitness and health, because during the time I was focused on getting healthy and slim. I found it hard to keep up with because I was trying to lose weight for all of the wrong reasons and kind of detested blogging about it. I started The In Between Girls because I wanted to learn to accept my body and help others who are in between plus sizes and regular sizes find a place where they didn't have to feel like they were the only ones that had these issues. A lot of fashion bloggers nowadays are either a size 00- 4 or a size 22 and it seems like we have two ends of a scale without covering much middle ground. I wanted to be the one to cover the grey areas that the other blogs missed.

What inspires you?
Inspiration comes to me from weird places. Once a month I sit down in Barnes and Nobles and I read all of my favorite fashion magazines from cover to cover, it helps give me ideas for blog posts and because I am a broke college grad I save money. I pull inspiration from what I see outside my window, depending on the weather and the colors I dress to mirror day. I also work in retail and I am not afraid to approach a woman about a piece she is wearing that I love. Most of my inspiration comes from myself though, through my personality and interests. If I like it I will buy it, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

What do you like to do on your spare time?
In my spare time I cook. My loves in life revolve around the 3 F's - Food, Fashion and Flying. I love food and I love clothes and I love to travel. Now I hate cooking everyday, but when I cook a meal I take the time to prep, plate and enjoy it. I love to use colorful vegetables and every recipe has to have garlic and olive oil ( I'm Italian what can I say). On any ol' day you can catch me at the park by my house attempting to play fetch with my chihuahua Bruno - it's more of me throwing the ball and having to pick it up myself. About once a month I go to Disneyland too, it is kind of like my second home now.

How long have you lived in San Diego?  Tell us what you love about SD.
I am a born New Yorker, raised in Seattle and living in San Diego. I have been living in San Diego for almost three years. After I graduated from San Diego State with my degree in public relations, I knew I had to be somewhere that I could enjoy my life and have the opportunities to spread my wings. I chose to stay in San Diego because the people are great, the atmosphere is laid back and I my outfit of the day wasn't constrained by rain 300 days out of the year.

What advice would you give to others who would like to begin blogging?
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. I have so many friends who I know what to start blogging and their main fear is that they are afraid of what others would think or don't know what to write. Just get over it and start your blog because once you start it gives you so many creative and professional opportunities and outlets.
